Brizzle
As an example of the ‘book as an object’, the final version of my folded zine ‘Brizzle’ has arrived.
It’s made up of images selected from a number of Dérives around the Bristol area. Just as a note, the participants of a Dérive must ‘let themselves be drawn by the attractions of the terrain and the encounters they find there.
Made from an A1 double sided poster with six folds and three cuts, a 32 page booklet is created when folded. The physical organisation of the pages provides a very different experience, more of an encounter than simply reading a traditional booklet.
Because of the arrangement of the pages, it’s not possible to quickly flick through them. The turning of pages is more like an exploration, making the encounter something like a dérive in its own right.
